  • Passengers

    449,651 million passenger-kilometres in 2022, of which 90 % are road journeys.

  • Freight

    2,146 million tonnes in 2022, of which 73 % are of national origin and destination.

Road

  • Passengers

    Intercity passenger transport in Spain is mainly by road: 386,108 million passenger-kilometres in 2022, representing 86 % of the total.

  • Freight

    In 2022, inland freight transport accounted for 323,078 million t-km, most of which (66 %) was along Spain's State Road Network.

Rail

  • Passengers

    In 2022, 27,344 million passenger-kilometres used the Spanish rail network as a whole, 15,263 million used long-distance services, 3,671 million used medium-distance services and 8,409 million used commuter services.

  • Freight

    10,553 million net t-km were transported by rail in 2022, of which 8,911 million were for domestic transport and 1,642 million for international transport.

Air

  • Passengers

    In 2022 202 million passengers travelled, of which 41 million flew domestically and 161 million flew internationally.

  • Freight

    In 2022 941,806 tonnes were transported, of which 58,484 tonnes were domestic and 883,322 tonnes international.

Sea

  • Passengers

    In 2022, there were more than 21 million passengers. Of these, 10.3 million used coastal services, 4.2 million were overseas trips and 6.9 million were cruise services.

  • Freight

    513.7 million tonnes were transported in 2022 in all Spanish ports, of which 48 million corresponded to coastal navigation, 449 million to foreign navigation, 365,732 tonnes to transhipped goods and over 15 million tonnes to fishing, provisioning and inland traffic.
